Job Description
Job Summary The Bar Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation, organization, cleanliness, service standards, and profitability of the bar operation at The Oak Park Country Club. The Bar Supervisor provides hands-on leadership to the bar team while ensuring consistent beverage quality, responsible alcohol service, proper inventory control, exceptional member service, and compliance with Club policies. The Bar Supervisor serves as a working leader who sets the example for professionalism, hospitality, appearance, communication, and service execution.

Bartender; Beverage Server; Wine Steward, Barbacks Duties Opening Tasks Inspect bar area and equipment. Verify cleanliness and readiness. Check liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, and supplies. Prepare ice and beverage stations. Verify glassware and bar tools. Check POS terminals. Review reservations, events, and anticipated business volume. Conduct pre-shift staff meeting. Assign bartender and support positions. Confirm special member requests and event requirements. During Service Tasks Monitor service levels continuously. Assist bartenders during periods of high volume. Monitor beverage quality and presentation. Maintain stock levels. Coordinate with servers, hosts, kitchen personnel, banquet staff, and managers. Closing Tasks Verify all closing procedures are completed. Check inventory and restocking requirements. Ensure perishables are properly stored. Secure liquor, wine, beer, and other controlled products. Verify cleaning and sanitation. Ensure equipment is properly shut down. Review POS and cash-handling procedures. Inspect the bar and storage areas. Document maintenance, inventory, staffing, or member-service issues. Communicate important information to management and the next shift. Other Tasks Develops and maintains a bar product and supplies inventory system for alcoholic beverages, including wines, non-alcoholic beverages and mixers glassware, paper and other bar supplies. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of bar areas, glassware and equipment through regular inspections. Develops standard operating procedures to help ensure that bars are set up and operated efficiently. Maintains an adequate supply of liquors, wines, beer and other beverages with effective inventory management system. Recruits, trains, schedules and supervises bar personnel according to established club procedures. Assists in employee reviews for beverage department personnel. Maintains and keeps current beverage-related training manuals. Develop product and revenue control systems and procedures to help reduce theft. Assures that all laws applicable to beverage operations are consistently followed. Works with Dining Room Manager, Banquet Manager and others to ensure efficient beverage service in all the club's outlets and for special functions. Works with the Clubhouse Manager and others to develop wine lists. Inspects to ensure that the club's sanitation, safety, energy management, preventive maintenance and other programs are implemented and complied with as they apply to beverage operation. Handles complaints from club members, guests and others related to the beverage department. Produces shift reports containing information on member-related issues, cover counts and any other concerns occurring during that period. Assists with private parties and service in food and beverage outlets when necessary. Keeps current with changing member preferences and industry trends related to the beverage operation. Attends staff and management meetings. Monitors bar closing procedures (checklist) and ensures that area is secure. Will serve as bartender. Assures that the club's policies and procedures for selling alcoholic beverages are consistently followed in all beverage outlets and at all club functions. May serve as club's opening or closing manager or manager on duty. Maintains a service log regarding any notable member or guest behavior.
