Job Description

Position Summary This position is key to ensuring the daily safety, quality, service, and low-cost operation of Metal Arts Machine operations and operations team. As a shift supervisor, you are expected to ensure that all operators are properly interpreting client specifications, as outlined on the job traveler, properly set up their equipment and work cells to minimize waste and maximize productivity, while maintaining a safe working environment. You will be responsible to make critical decisions about employee safety, product quality, on time delivery, and communicate concerns and/or opportunities for continuous improvement. In this role, you will be expected to perform the following duties. Duties and Job Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned as needed to support Metal Arts Machine Co.
  • Shift supervisors are often expected to open and close the facility, ensuring a successful startup and secure closure of all facility premises and assets.
  • Determine the proper job requirements to successfully install the fixtures, attachments and tools necessary to complete jobs according to set up documents, and ensure the materials are properly mounted prior to actual cutting with the CNC machine.
  • Read, interpret, and discuss job specifications with cell leads, manufacturing employees, engineers and managers to guarantee consistency between plans and products, and collaborate to modify designs and programs when existing ones are not feasible
  • Oversee all work cell processes, make adjustments throughout each job as needed to ensure product quality; identify mistakes as they happen and take the necessary measures to eliminate errors.
  • Ensure that each job has a thorough and accurate quality review prior and during operation. This includes a periodic quality part inspection with the operator and cell lead during the manufacturing process to minimize any scrap parts which is considered a direct reflection of shift lead performance.
  • Supervise and ensure a successful start-up a cool down of machines as needed to properly operate while maintaining proper coolant levels at all times.
  • Working with each cell lead or direct with employees, ensure each cell has a thorough review of all planned jobs prior to initiating work.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly maintenance tasks are completed to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning and tool replacement
  • Assign tasks such as on line deburr/blend, work share with others, and housekeeping activities to maximize productivity and minimize idle time during long machine run cycles.
  • Train, develop, and provide guidance and support as needed to continuously improve team performance.
  • Ensure there is a successful daily shift start up and shift change over process.
  • Working with the cell leads or directly with employees, conduct Root Cause and Corrective Action processes for any defective parts that may have been created.
  • Execute the daily production schedule and communicate any variances from said plan to support the daily demand from Metal Arts Machine customers.
  • Ensure all site safety policies are followed and work with site management to identify any opportunities for safety improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, managers, and coworkers, to continuously improve safety, Quality, Service, and Cost. Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, knowledge and use of Job Boss is preferred/training available.
Education/Experience :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Specialized Training:
Blue Print interpretation Root Cause Corrective Action preferred Aviation and machine shop background preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fork truck traffic. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with a moderately controlled temperature.
Pay:
$23.00 - $30.00 per hour
