Job Description

Pay Rate:
$24.00 hour Supervise daily kitchen operations and meal preparation for inmates and staff. Assign, train, and oversee all kitchen workers, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation rules. Monitor food inventory, storage, and supply orders to minimize waste and ensure adequate stock. Maintain accurate records of food production, temperatures, cleaning schedules, and inmate labor logs. Enforce security protocols to prevent misuse of kitchen tools, food supplies, and ensure controlled movement. Conduct regular inspections for cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and compliance with health codes. Collaborate with facility staff to ensure dietary requirements, including religious or medical needs, are met. Provide feedback and discipline in accordance with facility rules and rehabilitative guidelines.
Required Knowledge Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Working knowledge of bookkeeping practices and business English with good grammatical and spelling, skills, and ability to develop correspondence, reports and operational directives.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; culinary or food service certification preferred. Minimum 2 years of food service or kitchen supervisory experience; correctional setting experience a plus. HAACP certification preferred. Strong knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., ServSafe Certification). Ability to lead and instruct individuals from diverse backgrounds. Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills. Must pass a background check and meet all facility security clearance requirements.
