Job Description

Head Start is hiring a reliable, multi-talented individual to manage Food Service and light Custodial/Maintenance duties for our site in Mandan, ND. We have 77 students and 14 teaching staff. This is a crucial, high-impact role that provides a predictable school-year schedule . Details Requires a valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent
Pay:
$20.00/hour 40 hours per week from mid-August to mid-May. If desired, summer hours may be available through HIT, Inc. Some flexibility with hours. Must start early enough to prepare breakfast. Will discuss during the interview. 6+ months food service experience. Effectively speak, read, and understand English. Must be able to lift 40 pounds Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Basic mathematical skills. Excellent understanding of food preparation fundamentals. Proficient understanding of food allergies, modified diets, and food borne illnesses. Food Service & Kitchen Responsibilities You will be the sole kitchen operator, responsible for daily meal preparation and service while adhering to CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) requirements.
Breakfast:
Prep and serve a simple breakfast.
Lunch:
Receive and dish up catered lunch (family-style into bowls for classroom service).
Cleaning:
Wash dishes, and clean/organize refrigerators, freezers, pantry, and cabinets daily.
Ordering:
Compile grocery and supply lists, shop, order, and put away deliveries.
Safety/Compliance:
Record refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily Custodial & Building Maintenance Responsibilities You will ensure our building and grounds are clean, safe, and welcoming for students and staff.
Cleaning:
Mop, sweep, and general cleaning of hallways, gymnasium, bathrooms, meeting rooms, and main office.
Waste Management:
Emptying all trash receptacles (bathrooms, gym, kitchen).
Vehicle Care:
Clean Head Start vehicles (buses, car, truck) and submit mileage reports.
Outdoor:
Perform daily playground safety checks, sweep steps, and light snow shoveling/de-icing (less than 2 inches).
Maintenance:
Change furnace filters and monitor dehumidifier in the basement.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Food service or commercial kitchen experience preferred (experience serving large groups is a plus).
Reliability:
Must be a highly dependable, self-motivated individual, capable of managing all duties independently.
License:
Valid Driver's License required.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Physical:
Must be able to lift 40 pounds .
Communication:
