We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Shift Manager who can lead from the floor, develop employees, maintain high operating standards, and ensure every guest receives an exceptional experience. Position Overview The Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing restaurant operations during assigned shifts, with a primary focus on guest experience, employee performance, service execution, and operational accountability . This is a floor-focused leadership position. The ideal candidate is visible, engaged, decisive, and comfortable coaching employees in real time while maintaining a positive and professional work environment. Key Responsibilities Lead daily FOH operations during assigned shifts Manage opening, closing, and shift-change procedures Maintain a strong management presence on the restaurant floor Ensure consistent execution of Swahili Village service standards Coach, train, and develop servers, bartenders, hosts, food runners, and support staff Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities Monitor employee attendance, appearance, performance, and adherence to policies Address performance issues quickly and professionally Manage guest concerns and service recovery Monitor table flow, reservations, seating, and overall pace of service Coordinate closely with the kitchen to maintain food quality and ticket-time standards Ensure restaurant cleanliness, organization, and readiness throughout the shift Support labor management and make staffing adjustments based on business volume Assist with cash handling, closing procedures, and daily reporting Maintain compliance with food safety, alcohol service, and company policies Support special events, nightlife operations, private dining, and high-volume services Assist senior management with training, operational initiatives, and restaurant improvement What We're Looking For 2+ years of restaurant supervisory or management experience preferred Experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant environment Strong leadership and employee coaching skills Excellent guest-service and problem-solving abilities Ability to remain organized and composed during high-volume periods Strong communication and interpersonal skills Working knowledge of restaurant POS systems and basic restaurant financial controls Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events Experience with upscale dining, nightlife, or high-volume hospitality is a plus The Right Candidate We are looking for someone who understands that management is more than supervising a shift.
