Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and skilled Smokehouse Pitmaster to lead our barbecue operations with enthusiasm and expertise. In this role, you will oversee the entire smoking process, ensuring the highest quality of smoked meats and related dishes. Your leadership will inspire the culinary team, maintain strict quality standards, and create a memorable dining experience for our guests. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and possesses a deep understanding of traditional smoking techniques combined with excellent management skills. Responsibilities Manage all aspects of the smokehouse kitchen, including preparation, smoking, and presentation of meats and other smoked products Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment focused on excellence and safety Develop and refine smoking recipes, techniques, and menus to ensure consistency and innovation Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and food handling regulations within the smokehouse environment Oversee inventory management for smoking woods, spices, meats, and other supplies to optimize costs and quality Maintain high standards of customer service by engaging with guests when appropriate and addressing any concerns promptly Collaborate with management to plan special events or menu changes that highlight smoked offerings Utilize technical proficiency in smokehouse equipment, including smokers, temperature controls, and cleaning systems Implement quality control measures to monitor flavor profiles, texture, presentation, and overall product consistency Lead by example in maintaining a clean, organized workspace aligned with industry best practices Experience Proven management or supervising experience in a culinary setting, preferably within a smokehouse or barbecue restaurant Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members effectively Knowledge of catering and delivery operations related to food service environments is a plus Experience working with both BOH and FOH staff is advantageous Excellent customer service skills combined with conflict management abilities to handle guest inquiries or issues diplomatically Basic math skills for inventory control, portioning, and quality assurance purposes Strong organizational skills utilizing Microsoft Office tools for reporting or scheduling tasks This role offers an energetic environment where your culinary talents will shine while leading a dynamic team.
