Job Description

Job Overview:
The Food Service Specialist supports and helps oversee retail food service operations for the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway (LGSR), both onboard trains and at station locations. This role works closely with the AVP-Passenger and the Food Service Manager to ensure efficient operations, quality offerings, and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Oversee day-to-day food service operations
  • Schedule food service employees in the absence of the Food Service Manager
  • Develop and update menus, including: o Revising TV menu displays o Providing updates for website and social media postings
  • Assist the Food Service Manager with inventory control
  • Serve as the primary purchaser for food and coffee supplies: o Create purchase orders o Conduct weekly purchasing
  • Prepare food and set up retail displays (water, soda, snacks, etc.)
  • Prepare coffee and support the setup and operation of the Jim Thorpe coffee shop
  • Operate and maintain food service equipment in accordance with industry standards
  • Deliver high-level customer service to all guests
  • Assist in training and supervising food service and coffee shop staff
  • Restock food, beverage, and supply inventory as needed
  • Complete additional related duties or special projects as assigned Qualifications
  • Prior experience in retail food preparation preferred
  • Current Pennsylvania-recognized food safety certification required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and solid work ethic
  • Ability to adapt to changing workloads and operational needs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong Customer service skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to: o Sit, stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods o Lift up to 50 lbs. safely
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
  • Work schedule varies base on operational needs, including weekends and holidays, with weekdays off as scheduled.

Pay:
$21.00 - $22.66 per hour
