This is a working manager position requiring hands-on participation in daily kitchen operations, including cooking, food preparation, and staffing support while overseeing the department's overall success. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, maintains high food safety standards, and is committed to providing exceptional service to our residents. Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the Dietary Department. Complete necessary documentation in Point Click Care (POC) Prepare and cook meals while working alongside dietary staff as needed. Ensure meals are prepared and served according to physician orders, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards are followed. Manage food ordering, inventory, and department budgets. Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate staffing. Hire, train, coach, and evaluate dietary employees. Participate in quality assurance and regulatory surveys. Be available for on-call responsibilities and provide leadership during staffing shortages or emergencies. Qualifications Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification required Current ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification required Previous supervisory or management experience in a healthcare dietary department preferred. Skilled nursing or long-term care experience strongly preferred. Thorough knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety regulations, and infection control practices. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage as needed. Must be able to perform cooking duties and assist with meal service when necessary. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
