Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Food Service Director to lead and oversee all aspects of our dining operations within an assisted living environment. This pivotal role involves managing the dietary department, ensuring the delivery of nutritious, appealing meals, and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for nutrition, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to enhancing residents' quality of life through exceptional food service. As a Food Service Director, you will inspire your team, optimize operational efficiency, and foster a warm, welcoming atmosphere for residents and staff alike. Duties Responsible for supporting and adhering to the provisions of the facility's food service and dietary programs. Maintain the kitchen, dining and food storage areas in a clean and orderly condition and protect these areas from possible contamination. Provide assistance in the preparation and serving of meals in such a manner as to ensure that hot foods are served hot and cold foods cold, and in a consistency to meet individual needs. All foods are to be served in an attractive and tasteful fashion. Miscellaneous duties to include, but not limited to, food preparation, serving of meals, clean-up activities and dishwashing as warranted. Providing special services such as catering for activities (i.e. Family events, Holiday events, etc...) Supervision of all dietary staff and scheduling of their shifts. Responsible for making menus that adhere to the state and local regulations and are pleasing to the residents. Displaying menus for all residents and guests. Keeping up with meal charges for reimbursement to food budget. Staying within budgeted guidelines for food, supplies and chemicals. Remembering always that we work in our resident's homes, and we are to be respectful and caring at all times. Ensuring adherence to Health Department regulations. Ensuring the kitchen staffing needs are covered at all times and covering if needed. Report any incidentals/accidents to the Executive Director. Respecting HIPPA laws and maintaining confidentiality. Provide education to staff to ensure all job duties are understood and carried out appropriately. Writing up any staff that break the rules as listed in the handbook and ensure they understand that continued unsatisfactory performance could result in termination. Understand all job duties and communicate with the supervisor if you do not. You will be held accountable for those job duties and subject to reprimand if they are not performed as trained. Qualifications Preferred:
Education:
High school graduate preferred
Experience:
Food service preparation and delivery experience preferred' retirement industry experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
Working conditions:
Kitchen/food service environment; irregular hours; office and food service related duties; light lifting; irregular hours; routine engagement with residents, staff and visitors. Pay:
$55,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
