Kitchen Manager The Center - Boerne, Texas Full-Time | Salaried Exempt $55,000-$60,000 per year The Center is seeking an experienced and dependable Kitchen Manager to lead our commercial kitchen operations in Boerne. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily production of meals for our on-site dining and Meals on Wheels programs. The Kitchen Manager leads the kitchen team, manages production, purchasing, food safety, sanitation, inventory, staffing, and operational systems, and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This position directly supervises the Sous Chef and other kitchen staff. What You'll Do Manage the daily operation of The Center's commercial kitchen. Lead, schedule, direct, train, and supervise kitchen employees. Plan and coordinate daily meal production for congregate dining and Meals on Wheels. Ensure meals are prepared safely, consistently, accurately, and on schedule. Monitor food quality, portioning, temperatures, and production standards. Ensure standardized recipes and approved menus are followed. Manage food safety, sanitation, cleaning schedules, and regulatory compliance. Maintain an inspection-ready kitchen. Oversee food ordering, receiving, inventory, storage, and product rotation. Manage food and kitchen supply costs and help control waste. Oversee frozen meal production and inventory. Manage implementation of approved menus through US Foods Blueprint 360 Meal Suite Ensure required Registered Dietitian menu approvals are maintained. Coordinate equipment maintenance and kitchen supply needs. Train and coach employees and address performance concerns as needed. Participate in interviewing, hiring recommendations, employee evaluations, and disciplinary recommendations. Develop effective kitchen workflows and accountability systems. Work closely with Meals on Wheels and other Center staff to ensure program needs are met. Step into cooking or production when needed while continuing to manage kitchen operations. What We're Looking For At least 3 years of professional commercial kitchen experience with supervisory or kitchen management responsibility. Current Food Manager Certification required. Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, commercial food production, and temperature control. Experience managing and directing kitchen employees. Experience with high-volume food production. Experience with food ordering, inventory, receiving, and cost control. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet firm meal-production deadlines. Strong communication and leadership skills. Dependable attendance and consistent follow-through. Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn required food-service and organizational systems. Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following is especially helpful: Institutional food service Senior living or healthcare Meals on Wheels School nutrition Catering Nonprofit food service High-volume meal production Registered Dietitian-approved menus Food-service management software About the Role This position is ideal for an experienced kitchen leader who enjoys managing people and systems but is also comfortable working alongside the team when needed.
