Job Description

Barons Creek Vineyards is a growing, hospitality-driven winery dedicated to creating memorable guest experiences through exceptional wine, food, and service. Our Fredericksburg team works together in a welcoming, fast-paced environment where quality, teamwork, and attention to detail matter. Barons Creek Vineyards is seeking an organized, dependable, and hands-on Kitchen Supervisor to lead daily kitchen operations at our Fredericksburg location. This position reports to the Tasting Room Manager and is ideal for someone who enjoys working alongside their team while maintaining high standards for food quality, cleanliness, organization, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Lead daily kitchen operations under the guidance of the Tasting Room Manager. Prepare and plate food according to established recipes, portions, and presentation standards. Organize daily prep, assign responsibilities, and keep service running efficiently. Supervise, train, coach, and support kitchen staff. Maintain a clean, sanitary, organized, and clutter-free kitchen. Ensure workstations, equipment, refrigerators, and storage areas are cleaned and maintained properly. Conduct accurate inventory counts and communicate ordering needs. Receive deliveries and verify product quality and quantities. Label, date, rotate, and store food properly using FIFO practices. Monitor portions, expiration dates, and product usage to minimize food waste. Record waste, spoilage, and inventory discrepancies accurately. Enforce food-safety, sanitation, opening, closing, and cleaning procedures. Communicate staffing, equipment, inventory, and operational concerns to the Tasting Room Manager. Assist with scheduling, hiring, training, and employee performance as needed. What Success Looks Like The successful Kitchen Supervisor will maintain an inspection-ready kitchen, produce consistent food, keep inventory accurate, reduce preventable waste, and build a dependable team that works well with tasting-room staff. Qualifications Previous kitchen, restaurant, catering, or food-service experience required. Supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, inventory management, and waste control. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and time-management skills. Ability to stay calm and organized in a busy hospitality environment. Food Handler certification required or obtained upon hire. Certified Food Manager credential required or obtained within 30 days. Reliable transportation and availability during peak business periods. Schedule and Physical Requirements This position works approximately 40 hours per week , including weekends/evenings/holidays as scheduled. The role requires standing for extended periods and safely lifting up to 50 pounds .
