Job Purpose:
The Food Service Director at
S P J S T
Rest Home is responsible for overseeing the entire food service operations within the facility. This role ensures that residents receive high-quality, nutritious meals while maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. The director will lead the food service team, manage budgets, and collaborate with other departments to enhance the overall dining experience for residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement menus that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of residents, ensuring balanced and nutritious meals. Oversee the daily operations of the food service department, including food preparation, service, and sanitation. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations and standards. Manage and train food service staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Monitor inventory levels and manage purchasing to ensure cost-effective operations while maintaining quality standards. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to accommodate special dietary requirements and restrictions. Conduct regular evaluations of food service processes and implement improvements as necessary. Prepare and manage the food service budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Address and resolve any resident or staff concerns related to food service promptly and professionally. Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to continually improve the food service operations.
Required Education:
Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, Nutrition, or a related field.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment. Proven track record of managing a team, including hiring, training, and performance management. Experience with budget management and cost control in a food service setting. Demonstrated experience in menu planning and food preparation that meets nutritional standards and dietary restrictions.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks efficiently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff, residents, and other stakeholders. Proficiency in using food service management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Comprehensive knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices. Ability to develop and implement effective training programs for staff. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism. Commitment to providing high-quality customer service and improving resident satisfaction.
