Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVES

To perform a variety of skilled tasks in food preparation, cooking and presentation.

Assist with oversight of food preparation/production in a school kitchen.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Perform a wide range of cooking tasks associated with the preparation of student meals.

 Ensure that foods are maintained at proper temperatures for storing and preserving.

 Ensure that established health and safety procedures are followed.

 Keep abreast of changing requirements.

 Monitor all foods for quality of taste, texture and appearance.

 Plan following week's menu requirements and thaw food products accordingly.

 Verify nutritional values of meals served.

 Manage the cleaning and organization of all food and supply storage areas.

 Order food/supplies according to federal and state guidelines, as well as in coordination of planned meals/menus.

 Maintain food service records including all state and USDA mandated records such as production

sheets and standardized recipes.

 Comply with all state sanitation guideline requirements.

 Good basic knowledge of inventory control, ordering, menu planning, and quality control methods.

 Proficient technology skills including online ordering, spreadsheets and documents, social media

etiquette and marketing.

 Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Culinary degree preferred.

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with training in culinary arts plus one to two years of

relevant cooking experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable

knowledge and skills are acquired.

programs, spreadsheets and word processing programs. Experience with Google Suite preferred.
