Position Summary:
Performs general setups and moves. Works under the general direction of the director of event and catering services to complete written work orders and site-specific instruction from clients.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Works with Director, Scheduling & Events Manager, and Catering Coordinator to plan and implement functions and special events. Respond to work orders requesting conference and catering setups. Ensure that a setup is in accordance with fire and safety standard codes. Review event site to be clean and tidy, make arrangements with Facilities Services, if necessary. Work with vendors when they are involved with an event setup. Provide all labor and on site administration for event setups, including assembly of staging, and layout of seating. Setup an event according to client instructions. Work directly with clients to arrange tables, seating and special equipment for site-specific setups. Dry set and or deliver catering and conference break and meal services when needed. Retrieve items located in off-site storage and on campus storage areas. Responsible for the organization of several conference and catering storage areas. Maintain cleanliness and service of catering and conference vehicles. Flexibility to deal with clients and other campus personnel in a friendly professional manner under all circumstances. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the Director of Event and Catering Services.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Event and Catering Setup Lead is responsible for the supervision of student catering service staff with regard to potential setup needs and the training that will be required.
Budget Responsibilities:
This position has no fiscal responsibilities.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Excellent interpersonal, verbal and communication skills. Ability to effectively supervise others by providing clear instructions and effective criticism/redirection. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule which may change week to week based on business needs. This will include weekends, evenings, and holidays. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Must possess a high standard of personal hygiene. Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Google, cash register and POS systems. Must possess a valid Food Worker Card. Must possess a valid driver's license. Reliable and predictable attendance. Ability to pass a pre-employment background inquiry, physical exam (including drug screening), and strength test. Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community. Must be flexible to deal with clients and other campus personnel in a friendly professional manner under all circumstances Can operate several vehicles, including the following: cargo van, box truck, and golf cart.
Compensation and Benefits :
The anticipated range for this position is $21.32 - $21.32. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
