Facilitator
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Facilitator for a 12-month contract position in Washington, District of Columbia. The ideal candidate will plan, conduct, and manage meetings to ensure they are productive, focused, and aligned with organizational objectives. This role requires strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to guide diverse stakeholders through complex discussions. Responsibilities Coordinate with meeting organizers to understand objectives and develop comprehensive agendas Ensure all necessary materials, equipment, and technology are available and functional prior to meetings Distribute agendas and pre-meeting materials to participants in advance Serve as master of ceremonies and guide discussions to maintain focus on agenda items Encourage full participation from all attendees and manage group dynamics effectively Address conflicts professionally and ensure all viewpoints are heard and considered Summarize key discussion points, decisions, and action items during and after meetings Distribute meeting minutes or summaries to participants promptly Track progress on action items and follow up as needed Gather feedback from participants to evaluate meeting effectiveness Continuously refine facilitation techniques based on feedback and experience Qualifications Required 10+ years of experience as a meeting facilitator in the public sector Experience providing consulting services to governmental entities or within a field of specialization Experience designing public town-hall meetings and other convenings on public policy issues Demonstrated public speaking skills with the ability to communicate compellingly and competently Experience in state or local government, preferably within the District of Columbia government Bachelor's degree Preferred Master's degree or higher
