Job Description

The Naturalist/boat mate position is part of a team whose goal is to inspire guests and help them understand and appreciate Biscayne National Park. The Naturalist's primary responsibilities include interpretive talks, boat mate (helping with docking and anchoring), independently guiding kayak trips that depart from shore, and helping to maintain boats and gear. Talks are based around the ecology and history of Biscayne National Park and training will be provided on subjects and interpretation styles. This position will work closely with the Master Captains to provide a safe, fun and educational tour for the guests that visit Biscayne National Park.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with naturalist interpretation or environmental education in the field or formal presentations for groups. Expertise in customer service and problem solving skills. Enjoy working in a team environment in outdoor settings. Experience working on the water or in field settings. Enjoy working in various weather conditions. (Florida loves its rain) Be available to work weekends and holidays. Be a strong and confident swimmer. Be able to complete our safety courses for CPR and Diver's First Aid. Must be able to pass a drug test and agree to USCG regulated randomized drug testing while employed with us. Be able to work 9 hour days. Be able to lift 50 lbs.
