Job Description

The City of Overland Park has a temporary Guest Services Coordinator position available in the Parks and Recreation Department.
JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT
Coordinates the operation of the Main Entrance at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. Processes membership sales, admissions and activities; provides excellent customer service to all visitors; assists in training of cashiers, greeters and coordinates tour groups. Assists Public Programs Assistant Supervisor and Volunteer Coordinator as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides general support for the operation of the Main Entrance Building at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead and ticket booth. Operates point-of-sale ticketing and membership software. Processes refunds when necessary. Monitors the Farmstead entrance, greets visitors and provides excellent customer service. Assumes Greeter and Ticket Booth duties in their absence. Provides general information and customer service to the public by answering questions, providing direction, and enforcing rules. Helps monitor the Guest Services email account and respond as appropriate. Accesses membership information and emails QR codes to members as needed. Provides information to the public about donor programs. Answers questions regarding tributes, such as bricks, swings, benches and other donation and fundraising opportunities. Sets up and takes down work stations and cash drawers in the Guest Services area. Assists with birthday party and pavilion rentals, tours and large groups, including check-in, collecting payment and coordination with tour guides as needed. Assists Volunteer Coordinator and Assistant Public Programs Supervisor as needed. Make daily announcements over the facility public address system. Maintains the cleanliness of the Entrance Building including the restrooms as needed both throughout the day and at the end of the day. Performs other duties as assigned. The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organization with which interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals. The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.
REQUIREMENTS
Basic high school education or equivalent. Must be 18 years old.
EXPERIENCE
This is an entry level position, no previous experience is required. Retail or Customer Service experience is preferred.
SKILLS:
Good oral and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Basic math and accounting skills.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read and comprehend City policies and procedures. Ability to train and guide others. Good memory skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks. Ability to handle large crowds and work under distracting conditions. Ability to be attentive for extended periods of time. Ability to work independently. Ability to provide guidance to children. Ability to receive training and maintain knowledge of the educational areas, various activities and animals at the Farmstead. Ability to learn and operate point-of-sale and membership system software application.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to assist the general public. Exposure to noisy conditions. Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions. Ability to make or receive phone calls.
