Location:
University of Maryland, College Park Type:
Part-time / flexible
Term:
September 2026 - December 2026
Compensation:
$100/month base stipend + milestone bonuses
Time Commitment:
Flexible, with one required 60-minute team meeting each week What is Crew? Crew is a new social platform that helps people find friends in their area through short-form video. There are thousands of people around you who you might genuinely click with, but most social platforms only give you static photos, bios, and profiles to figure that out. Imagine seeing someone's personality first, how they talk, what they're like, what they find funny, and the kind of energy they bring, before deciding whether you want to connect. That's Crew! We're launching Crew for the first time at UMD this fall, and we're looking for a few people to help us make it happen. The role We're choosing three Founding Campus Ambassadors at UMD to work directly with Crew's founder and help build our first campus community from the ground up. This is not a typical ambassador role where you post a few flyers and call it "marketing." You'll actually have a voice in how Crew launches at UMD. You'll help us figure out: Who should be among Crew's first users How Crew should show up on campus What students are actually responding to Where and how we should promote Which student communities we should know What our launch event should feel like What is working, what isn't, and what we should change quickly You'll also be among the first people to use Crew and give direct product feedback before the broader campus launch. What you'll do You'll help: Test Crew before launch and give honest product feedback Recruit some of Crew's first UMD test users Identify funny, interesting, outgoing, quirky, memorable people who would be great early Crew profiles Help build Crew's initial group of seed users before the campus-wide launch Spread Crew through your own campus networks, group chats, organizations, social circles, and word of mouth Help distribute flyers and other launch materials around campus Support Crew's launch event and other campus activations Tell us what's actually happening on campus, what people are talking about, what feels relevant, and where Crew should show up Join and engage in a one-hour Crew ambassador meeting each week to align on priorities, share what you're seeing on campus, and plan what we're doing next The role will be busiest around product testing and Crew's initial UMD launch, with the workload becoming more flexible as the semester progresses. Who we're looking for You don't need marketing experience. You do need to be someone who: Is currently a UMD undergrad (sophomore - senior) Knows people or is very good at meeting them Has strong opinions about what feels cool, relevant, and engaging Strongly understands UMDs culture Is outgoing, resourceful, and comfortable approaching people Actually follows through when you say you're going to do something Likes startups, social apps, marketing, events, community-building, or just the idea of helping build something from the very beginning Being involved in student organizations, Greek life, residence halls, athletics, campus media, nightlife, or other UMD communities is a huge plus, but absolutely not required.
Compensation Founding Campus Ambassadors receive:
$100/month guaranteed stipend from September through December $100 launch milestone bonus $100 growth milestone bonus Maximum compensation for Fall 2026: $600 You'll also work directly with Crew's founder, get genuine early-stage startup experience across product, growth, marketing, events, and community, and have the opportunity to continue with Crew in Spring 2027 as we grow. Most importantly We're looking for people who think this sounds genuinely fun and want to help build something from the very beginning. Crew is being built to make meeting new people easier, more natural, and more personal. UMD is where we're starting. You'll help us figure out what Crew becomes.
Benefits:
Flexible schedule Application Question(s): Are you currently enrolled at UMD as a sophomore, junior, or senior? What campus communities are you involved in, if any? Describe what stuck out to you about this opportunity and why you want to help launch Crew at UMD. Are you comfortable being the face of Crew at UMD?
