Visitor Services Associate

Job Overview Our Visitor Service Associates (VSAs) strive to make every visit special through attentive service and a commitment to guest excellence. They are responsible for a broad range of activities, including selling general admission tickets, guided tour tickets, and memberships; directing research requests and venue rental inquiries; supervising building access; and engaging with guests in the exhibition spaces by answering questions and monitoring guest compliance with museum rules. VSAs report to the Executive Director and may be supervised by the Office Manager or the on-site manager for the day. Duties Provide superior customer service to all guests Project a positive image, serving as the initial first impression for the museum Maintain proper cashier operations by following policies and procedures Relay accurate information regarding the building, exhibits, programs, and events Handle issues/questions in a professional, polite, and positive manner Actively participate in all provided training classes to ensure that the museum's rules and safety protocols are followed Turn on and off exhibition media and lights Carry out light housekeeping/cleaning duties as outlined for each area throughout the day Requirements Interest in Bar Harbor history Being able to communicate with visitors in both conveying information and listening to their questions/complaints Must be able to walk, stand, and interact with the public for long periods of time Be well organized and thorough with close attention to detail and follow-through Work as a team player with staff, volunteers, and Board members Comfortable using a computer/tablet and working with money and credit cards Capability to perform physical tasks that include frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Experience Previous experience in customer service or guest services roles is highly preferred. Experience as a docent or guide Familiar with downtown
