Job Description

Lead Carpenter Coastal Maine General Contracting -Mount Desert Island, Maine Full-Time | $30.00 to 40.00/hr depending on experience About Us & The Role At Coastal Maine GC, we're a design-build construction company; focused on quality work, clear communication, and a strong team culture. We are looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter to work under the Site Supervisor and lead day-to-day production in the field. This role is both hands-on and leadership-focused; responsible for performing skilled carpentry work while helping organize the crew, maintain quality standards, and keep daily work aligned with the project plan. The Lead Carpenter works closely with the Site Supervisor to coordinate daily tasks, understand upcoming work, and ensure crews are productive, safe, and building to a high standard. This role also supports the growth of apprentices and less experienced carpenters through guidance, teaching, and leading by example We value: Communication in everything we do Accountability and ownership Strong effort and attitude Practical problem-solving and creativity Continuous personal growth Respect for people and the work Supporting your team and community What You'll Be Doing Perform skilled carpentry work across framing, rough, and finish phases on residential and commercial projects Work under the direction of the Site Supervisor to understand daily and weekly plans, priorities, and upcoming work Help organize and lead the crew through daily tasks to keep production moving efficiently and on schedule Participate in layout, measurements, and preparation of work areas to ensure accurate installation before work begins Install materials according to plans, specifications, and manufacturer instructions while maintaining high-quality standards Use tools, equipment, and building methods to complete work that is straight, level, plumb, square, and built to standard Protect completed work, materials, and jobsite areas using proper coverings and jobsite protection practices Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite and follow OSHA safety standards at all times Communicate daily with the Site Supervisor regarding progress, material needs, issues, and jobsite conditions Assist in coordinating the flow of materials, tools, and work areas to keep the crew productive throughout the day Support apprentices and less experienced carpenters by teaching proper techniques, best practices, and quality expectations Help maintain jobsite documentation and progress tracking (photos, updates, and reporting as required) Identify issues in the field early and communicate them so they can be resolved quickly and efficiently Support overall jobsite efficiency by helping the crew stay aligned with schedule, quality, and production goals What We Offer $30.00 to 40.00/hr depending on experience Year-round, steady work Paid Time Off + Paid Holidays Health, dental, and vision insurance contribution Simple IRA with company match Discretionary Performance based end-of-year bonus Growth opportunities within the company Supportive team environment with strong communication and leadership What We're Looking For 5+ years of residential or commercial carpentry experience Strong skills in framing and finish carpentry Ability to lead and work alongside a crew Strong understanding of construction methods, layout, and installation standards Good communication and leadership skills in the field Ability to follow direction from the Site Supervisor while leading daily execution Commitment to quality, safety, and craftsmanship Comfortable with ACC, Microsoft Office, or similar tools Ready to help us build something better? to join a team where leadership, integrity, and results go hand in hand.
