Job Description
Training and Safety Coastal Maine General Contracting - Ellsworth and Mount Desert Island, Maine Full-Time | $25-$38/hr (based on experience) About Us & The Role At Coastal Maine GC, we're a design-build construction company; focused on quality work, clear communication, and a strong team culture. We are looking for a Training & Safety Coordinator to support workforce development, job site safety, OSHA compliance, and field training across our residential and commercial construction projects. This role helps ensure our teams are working safely, professionally, and consistently while supporting long-term employee growth and development. The right person is proactive, organized, hands-on, and comfortable working directly with field crews, leadership, and developing employees. This role requires strong communication, accountability, and the ability to help reinforce company standards throughout the field team.

Communication in everything we do Accountability and ownership Strong effort and attitude Practical problem-solving and creativity Continuous personal growth Respect for people and the work Supporting your team and community What You'll Be Doing Conduct regular job site visits to monitor safety compliance, PPE usage, housekeeping, and field safety standards Help ensure field operations follow OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and compliance requirements Identify unsafe conditions, workflow risks, or training deficiencies and communicate corrective actions promptly Coordinate OSHA training programs, certifications, renewals, toolbox talks, and compliance training Track employee certifications, expiration dates, equipment training, and continuing education requirements Support safety onboarding and orientation for new field employees Assist with incident reporting, accident investigations, corrective action plans, and documentation Monitor workforce training needs and identify opportunities for additional coaching and development Develop and support carpentry skills training for apprentices and developing carpenters Provide hands-on coaching related to carpentry basics, tool usage, installation methods, and company standards Work closely with Site Supervisors, Crew Leaders, and Operations to support workforce development Help reinforce company culture, professionalism, accountability, craftsmanship, and safe work habits Maintain accurate training records, OSHA documentation, certification logs, and compliance tracking systems Assist leadership with identifying trends related to safety concerns, training gaps, workmanship issues, or workforce development needs Help improve training materials, safety procedures, onboarding systems, and field development processes Ensure safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training attendance are consistently completed and documented Report urgent safety concerns, compliance risks, or training deficiencies immediately What We Offer $25-$38/hr (based on experience) Year-round, steady work Paid Time Off + Paid Holidays Health, dental, and vision insurance contribution Simple IRA with company match Discretionary Performance based end-of-year bonus Growth opportunities within the company Supportive team environment with strong communication and leadership What We're Looking For 3-5+ years of construction, safety coordination, workforce training, or field leadership experience Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, construction safety practices, and job site operations Experience coordinating safety training, certifications, and compliance documentation Comfortable working directly with field crews and providing hands-on coaching and support Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Experience with carpentry, construction methods, and field operations preferred Ability to maintain organized records, training logs, and compliance documentation Able to lead by example while reinforcing professionalism, accountability, and safety standards Ready to help us build something better? to join a team where leadership, integrity, and results go hand in hand.Pay:
