At the Saint Louis Science Center our mission is to ensure everyone is curious and engaged with science.'. The Gallery and exhibit content team supports the Science Center's mission by providing educational experiences in our galleries and through our exhibits. Our Facilitator is our front line with the public, challenging guests on our interactive exhibits and engaging them at Science Conversation Stations, helping them explore a multitude of disciplines that bring out their inner geek! We are looking for a high energy person who wants to make science more accessible ! Must have the ability to interact effectively with audiences of diverse ages and backgrounds, love working as part of a team, and be a lifelong learner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver inquiry-based experiences to guests as well as engage them in gallery interactive gallery experiences. Deliver inquiry-based experiences at off-site events such as festivals Assist in the daily operations of the Science Center's galleries, including opening and closing procedures of the galleries. Cross Train in other galleries to be a part of the bigger Gallery Programs team. Cross train on resetting and cleaning of all gallery spaces to be able to ensure guests have access to tidy spaces. Flexible Schedule and the ability to work weekends and holidays is required to accommodate the needs of our guests.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to actively engage guests during your shift. Be able to withstand large crowds and loud noises. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE HS
diploma or equivalent required. College course work in relevant Science, Informal Education, Museum Studies preferred. 1 year of working experience is required; science education or cultural institution experience a plus. National Association for Interpretation Training a plus.
