1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to lead phlebotomy, lab assistant, and outreach collection staff across a hospital campus and its associated outpatient sites. Details 13-week contract in the Laboratory department of a hospital system Oversees phlebotomy and lab assistant staff across inpatient, outpatient, and outreach collection sites AM shift, 5x8s, 40 hrs/week No on-call responsibilities Floats to laboratory collection areas as needed to support staffing Requirements ND or compact RN license required High school diploma required; BA/AS in biological or chemical science preferred 3 years of laboratory experience in phlebotomy, lab assistant, specimen processing, or related functions required National Phlebotomy or Laboratory Assistant Certification (ASCP or equivalent) preferred Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred Experience coordinating operations across multiple laboratory collection sites preferred Experience with laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office applications preferred Valid driver's license may be required depending on outreach responsibilities Ability to perform venipuncture and specimen collection procedures occasionally Adequate vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and fine motor coordination required Additional Information Provides daily leadership and operational oversight for lab assistants, phlebotomy staff, and outreach collection services Coordinates staffing, scheduling, and workflow across inpatient, outpatient, and outreach locations Supervises staff orientation, training, competency assessment, coaching, evaluations, and corrective action Ensures specimen integrity through compliance with collection, labeling, processing, storage, and transport standards Monitors quality indicators, turnaround times, productivity, and customer service metrics Oversees inventory management of laboratory supplies and equipment, collaborating with Supply Chain Ensures compliance with regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, and safety requirements Partners with laboratory leadership, nursing, providers, and clinic staff to coordinate patient care and resolve service issues Supports outreach services including courier coordination, client communication, and service recovery Maintains departmental procedures, staff education materials, and operational documentation Works in an environment with routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious materials, requiring PPE adherence Requires frequent travel between hospital departments, clinics, and outreach collection sites
