Whether guiding beginners or seasoned explorers, you'll foster a welcoming environment that encourages learning, adventure, and respect for the natural environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to share your love of outdoor activities while honing your leadership and guiding skills in a vibrant, energetic setting. Responsibilities Lead tour groups on kayaking excursions through the end of summer and fall and then transition to cross country ski trips this winter, providing expert guidance and ensuring safety throughout the experience Educate guests on proper techniques, safety protocols, and environmental stewardship to enhance their understanding and enjoyment Manage tour logistics, including group coordination, timing, and equipment setup to ensure smooth operations Build rapport with guests through engaging storytelling, clear communication, and personalized attention to create memorable adventures Conduct safety briefings before outings and respond promptly to any emergencies or safety concerns using wilderness safety skills and first aid/CPR knowledge Maintain equipment integrity by inspecting gear regularly and reporting any issues for prompt resolution Foster a positive group atmosphere by encouraging participation, teamwork, and respect for fellow adventurers and the environment Act as sales associate when not out on a tour, checking guests out, managing and cleaning rental inventory, maintaining a clean and organized shop. Qualifications Proven outdoor work experience with strong leadership skills in guiding groups during water and snow activities Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver engaging presentations and storytelling techniques to diverse audiences Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to connect with international guests effectively Demonstrated customer service excellence with a focus on guest rapport building and tailored experiences Knowledge of wilderness safety practices, first aid, CPR certification, and emergency response procedures Experience in tour group management, time management, and outdoor activity instruction is preferred Passion for teaching others about outdoor recreation, environmental conservation, and outdoor safety protocols Embark on an exciting journey as a Kayak/Ski Guide where every day brings new adventures!
