A Travel or Tour Guide leads tours for groups of visitors or tourists. Leads tours of museums or famous or historic sites, and provides visitors with details and anecdotes about the history and significance of buildings, artwork or collections. Travels with a group of tourists, plans site visits and daily itineraries, interprets languages, and shares specialized knowledge about a country or city with the group.

In this dynamic floor role, museum associates promote the Museum's mission by delivering exceptional educational experiences and representing the organization at community outreach events.
Work Schedule and Conditions:
Full-time position. Expect a 5-day workweek that includes weekends. This position requires moving throughout the museum, standing, sitting, reaching for objects, stooping, and kneeling.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties include:
Execute welcome desk operations, including visitor check-in, gift shop sales, and opening/closing cash registers. Engage visitors within exhibits, facilitating inquiry-based learning and using props/materials to enhance the visitor experience. Deliver high-quality, hands-on public programming across Museum learning spaces (including Bio Lab, Cooking Lab, Tesla Room, and Early Childhood spaces). Welcome, orient, and check in visiting school groups and organizations. Facilitate educational programs for schools, camps, and public groups focusing on early literacy, STEAM, and health/wellness. Lead "Ed-to-Go" off-site outreach programming to bring museum experiences into the community. Prepare and maintain learning spaces by assembling program kits, cleaning, and organizing materials. Monitor supply levels and proactively report inventory replenishing needs. Support peer training and mentorship of team members on educational program delivery and dynamic child-engagement techniques. Support projects, special events, and community outreach efforts to promote the Museum's mission.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A passion for engaging with people, specifically children and their families. BA/BS degree preferred. Excellent oral communication and presentation skills, with the comfort and ability to facilitate programs for groups of up to 75 children. Understanding of hands-on, inquiry-based, or informal education methods. Exhibit a positive and friendly demeanor and maintain a professional, approachable appearance appropriate for an active, hands-on environment. At least 4 years of experience in customer-facing roles, preferably within an educational or museum setting.
