Duties Serve meals and beverages to residents in accordance with their dietary requirements and preferences, ensuring timely and courteous service Assist in food preparation, plating, and presentation to uphold high standards of food safety and sanitation Adhere to all food handling, sanitation, and safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe lifting practices during heavy lifting tasks Maintain cleanliness of dining areas by bussing tables, cleaning surfaces, and ensuring proper sanitation throughout meal service Support the dietary team with meal setup, portioning, and ensuring compliance with JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards for food safety Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while following established procedures for food production and cooking Work collaboratively with nursing staff and dietary aides to accommodate special diets and dietary restrictions for residents Qualifications Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred Demonstrated food service experience including serving, food handling, cooking, and meal preparation Knowledge of dietary requirements specific to geriatric patients or individuals with special nutritional needs Strong time management skills to efficiently handle multiple tasks during busy meal periods Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely while maintaining workplace safety standards Basic math skills for accurate portioning and serving measurements Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, respectful approach towards residents and team members Food production or culinary experience is advantageous; familiarity with sanitation practices is essential CPR certification is preferred; willingness to obtain if not currently certified Ability to lift heavy objects safely while following proper manual handling techniques Join us in creating a warm dining environment where residents feel cared for through delicious meals served with compassion.
