MRG is seeking an experienced busser/food runner at The Mill on the River 989 Ellington Road South Windsor, CT 06074. In this position, you ensure that we deliver a safe, healthy, and sanitary experience to every guest and member of our establishment. They are responsible for ensuring that our patrons and co-workers enjoy their meals on clean plates, using clean silverware, at well-prepared tables. As a busser and food runner you are responsible for helping out wait staff and bartenders. While this position is not the front line of service but their strong attention to detail and attentiveness is what is needed to thrill our guests. Qualified candidates for this position will have a strong work ethic, be punctual, professional, genuine, friendly, hospitable, & have prior wine knowledge. This position requires someone who is good at prioritizing and multi-tasking in a very busy environment, while still maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor. We expect our associates to have regular attendance defined as being on time and present for all scheduled shifts, for the entire shift. Our associates need to value the importance of timeliness, punctuality, and dependability, and how the lack of these critical elements affects others in the workplace and the overall restaurant operations. We expect all associates to be willing to lend a helping hand to co-workers, direct reports, and supervisors, whether it is one of their typical job responsibilities or not.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Remove unnecessary plates while guests are still seated at the table Provide rolls, bread, butter, and oil to customers Reset place settings: complete with silverware, water glasses, and bread plate, etc. Help wait staff remove dirty plates as needed Clear tables after guests have left and reset tables with clean linen and set-ups Bring dirty dishes/bus buckets to dishwasher from various areas of the restaurant Make set ups and roll ups Bring clean glasses to the bar Bring garbage and recycles to outside receptacles Bring dirty linen in bags to outside receptacles Picks up food product for orders placed by the service staff and delivers the meal to our guests. Assists the kitchen and service staff as needed to maintain the highest level of food quality, presentation, and timing to optimize our guests dining experience Sets up the front line with the equipment, plateware, and smallwares needed to effectively serve all food products Keeps station restocked throughout the shift Cleans large and small trays and tray stands to be ready for service Reads order tickets as they arrive and place onto ticket minder Tracks cooking times on all orders, checks finished product for proper degree of doneness, appearance, and plate presentation Garnishes finished entrees according to house specifications and procedures Assists the server as needed to optimize the guest's dining experience Accomplishes all job duties while adhering to all safety guidelines and practices throughout the shift Reports any unsafe condition, unsafe act, accidents and/or injuries to the chef or other manager on duty Correctly completes closing duties at the end of each shift Assists Chef and other kitchen personnel in accomplishing closing duties and kitchen cleanliness Completes all side work in the front and/or back of the house as assigned and scheduled by the members of the management team Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be available weekends, mornings/evenings, and holidays

- Be able to lift or carry up to 25-50+ lbs

From $16.94 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 - 55.0 per week
