Job Summary As a Server at Imoto Coral Gables, you are the primary connection between the kitchen and the guest experience. You will deliver gracious, knowledgeable, and attentive service in an intimate, elevated dining environment. Your responsibility is to embody Imoto's hospitality philosophy — anticipating guest needs, confidently guiding them through the menu, and creating memorable dining moments that keep them coming back. This position requires poise, attention to detail, strong communication skills, extensive product knowledge, and a genuine passion for hospitality. Core Responsibilities Service Execution Provide welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive service that aligns with Imoto's standards and tone of voice. Guide guests through the food and beverage menus with confidence and enthusiasm. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Imoto's Japanese and Asian cuisine, including sushi, sashimi, ingredients, preparations, and menu terminology. Take orders accurately and efficiently using the Toast POS system. Manage your section during service, ensuring proper pacing, order flow, and follow-through. Handle payment transactions with care and confidentiality. Complete all assigned daily and weekly side work and cleanliness duties. Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas throughout the shift. Hospitality & Guest Interaction Build rapport with guests, recognizing returning patrons and tailoring service to individual preferences. Anticipate guest needs and exceed expectations in every interaction. Provide personalized and attentive service appropriate to Imoto's intimate dining environment. Respond swiftly and professionally to any guest inquiries, concerns, or special requests. Inform management immediately of any guest feedback, complaints, or perceived issues. Teamwork & Mentorship Collaborate closely with bussers, food runners, bar staff, and hosts to maintain smooth service flow. Assist with onboarding and training of new FOH team members using Imoto's service standards and materials. Attend pre-shift meetings and contribute to a strong, communicative service culture. Operational Duties Arrive on time, in full uniform, ready to work with a positive attitude. Ensure your section is properly set and reset according to restaurant standards. Provides excellent guest service according to expectations outlined in the Sequence of Service. Carries out all tasks necessary to prepare the restaurant for service prior to pre-shift. Follows and is responsible for the Sequence of Service guidelines. Uses a soft sell/recommendation approach on the menu, applying thorough product knowledge. Rings orders and performs all necessary additional functions on the POS system. Checks identification of all guests under the age of 30. Maintains accurate financial records of the shift, including all discounts and comps & guest information for OpenTable. Maintains cleanliness of work area. Completes daily and weekly side work on a consistent and thorough basis. Assists other staff members as necessary. Completes additional tasks as assigned by the management team. Keeps management informed of any problems, complaints from guests or other staff members. Follows all company procedures regarding health & safety. Follows all company policies as outlined in Associate Handbook. Standards & Compliance Follow Imoto's Sequence of Service and all performance guidelines as outlined in training. Maintain adherence to food safety, alcohol service laws, sanitation, and hygiene standards. Uphold company policies for guest confidentiality and payment security. Take all actions with the guest's best interest in mind to build loyalty and avoid complaints. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in an upscale restaurant preferred. Strong food, wine, and beverage knowledge. Japanese food knowledge preferred. Sushi and sashimi knowledge preferred. Sake knowledge preferred. Familiarity with Toast POS or similar restaurant systems. Able to stand and move for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs. Able to work as part of a team in an intimate, detail-oriented environment. Professional appearance, punctuality, and a guest-first attitude are essential.
