This is a part-time position with shifts scheduled based on The Yard's operating hours, events, and staffing needs. We're an off-leash dog park, bar, coffee shop, food truck destination, and community event space all rolled into one. The Yard is operated by Paws Humane Society, and everything we do connects back to that mission. We're here to give people and their dogs a place to spend time together while creating another way for our community to support local animal welfare. It's a busy, hands-on environment where every day can look a little different. As a bartender, you'll spend most of your shift behind the Airstream serving drinks, talking with members and guests, keeping the bar stocked and clean, and making sure the bar runs smoothly from open to close. You'll also work alongside the rest of the Yard team and help support events and daily operations when needed. Job Summary Bartenders at The Yard are responsible for running the Airstream bar during their assigned shifts and creating a welcoming experience for our members and guests. This includes preparing and serving the full drink menu, operating the POS, checking IDs, maintaining inventory, keeping the bar clean and organized, and completing opening and closing procedures. Our menu includes beer, wine, canned cocktails, coffee, dirty sodas, mocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, and a selection of easy-to-follow signature cocktails. Bartenders should be comfortable learning recipes, working at a steady pace, and keeping things moving during busy shifts. While this is primarily a bar position, everyone at The Yard is expected to work as a team. Bartenders may occasionally assist with member questions, general cleanup, events, or other day-to-day needs when necessary. Key Responsibilities Open and close the Airstream bar according to established procedures Prepare and serve drinks from the full Yard menu, following established recipes and standards Prepare beer, wine, canned cocktails, coffee, dirty sodas, mocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, and signature cocktails Operate the POS system and process cashless transactions accurately Check IDs and follow responsible alcohol service practices Provide friendly, attentive service to members and guests Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bar throughout the shift Clean and sanitize counters, coolers, refrigerators, equipment, and other bar surfaces Restock beverages, supplies, and bar inventory as needed Complete daily inventory counts, including alcohol, with management oversight Communicate low inventory and supply needs to management Assist other Yard team members when needed Other duties as needed Qualifications Previous bartending or bar service experience preferred, but not required Willingness to learn drink recipes and bar procedures Strong customer service and communication skills Comfortable working with a POS system and handling transactions Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently Able to stay organized and multitask during busy periods Comfortable working evening, weekend, and event shifts Comfortable working in an environment with dogs, people, music, and occasional high-traffic periods Team-oriented and willing to help outside of the bar when needed Physical Requirements Ability to stand and remain active for the duration of a shift Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs Ability to repeatedly bend, reach, lift, and move supplies Comfortable working in and around an outdoor environment and varying weather conditions Must be 18+; must meet applicable age requirements for alcohol service Why Work at The Yard Part-time schedule with opportunities for weekday, weekend, evening, and event shifts Hourly pay plus tips Fun, social work environment Work alongside a team that cares about animals and the community No two shifts are exactly the same Be part of a unique space operated by
