This position is responsible for assisting with daily meal service in a school cafeteria while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff. Job Responsibilities Set up the serving line before breakfast and/or lunch service. Serve meals to students according to established portion sizes and meal requirements. Assist with basic food preparation, packaging, and meal setup as needed. Maintain accurate meal counts and assist with required daily production records. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures. Keep serving areas, counters, equipment, and workstations clean and organized. Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and food-service equipment as assigned. Assist with receiving, stocking, and properly storing food and supplies. Follow school and Nourish Food Service policies and procedures. Provide friendly and professional service to students, teachers, administrators, and other staff. Work cooperatively with cooks, managers, and other food-service team members. Complete end-of-shift cleaning and ensure the kitchen and serving areas are prepared for the next service day. Perform other food-service duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous food-service, cafeteria, restaurant, or school food-service experience is preferred but not required. Must be dependable and able to report to work on time each scheduled day. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions. Must maintain professional and appropriate behavior while working around children. Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices is preferred. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine lifting, bending, reaching, and cleaning. Must be able to work effectively as part of a team. Reliable transportation is required.
