Cook/Food Production/Server/General Worker

Hours:

6.5 hours daily (7:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.), Monday-Friday

Position Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the district's school nutrition program. This position's primary responsibilities include inventory management, cashiering, and transporting food and supplies between district kitchen locations. The successful candidate will also assist with food preparation, meal service, dishwashing, and kitchen sanitation as needed to ensure efficient operation of all school kitchens. We will train the right person in areas where they are a good fit and show interest or aptitude.

Qualifications, Experience, Education, and Special Training

Knowledge of FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices required.

Experience with inventory management and stock rotation preferred.

Ability to operate a Point-of-Sale (POS) system, will train!

Basic knowledge of Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge of production kitchen operations and food safety practices.

Understanding of proper sanitation procedures and HACCP guidelines.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Valid driver's license required.

Ability to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and complete work on time.

Positive attitude with excellent customer service skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Other duties as assigned.

Primary Duties

Receive, organize, rotate, and store food and supply deliveries using FIFO practices.

Pull inventory and distribute food and supplies to kitchen staff as needed.

Perform monthly physical inventories and assist with inventory recordkeeping.

Transport food, supplies, and equipment safely between district school locations.

Operate the cashier/POS system during daily meal service.

Assist with food preparation and daily meal production when needed.

Serve students in a friendly and efficient manner.

Assist with dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitizing kitchen equipment and work areas.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.

Follow all USDA, HACCP, and district food safety standards.

Support kitchen operations wherever needed to ensure successful meal service.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director or Kitchen Manager.
