POSITION OVERVIEW
The Breakfast Server is responsible for creating a warm, polished, and effortless morning experience for guests of Doctor Sax House and Doctor Sax Restaurant. Breakfast at Doctor Sax is an extension of the overall guest experience. The Breakfast Server should anticipate needs, maintain an exceptionally clean and intentional dining environment, and provide attentive service that feels personal without being intrusive. This role requires someone who is naturally hospitable, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership of the dining room during morning service. The Breakfast Server works closely with the culinary, front desk, and hospitality teams to ensure a seamless experience from the moment a guest enters the space through the completion of service. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESGuest Service Warmly greet and welcome hotel guests Provide attentive, polished, and knowledgeable table service throughout breakfast. Guide guests through the breakfast menu and confidently answer questions regarding ingredients, preparation, and dietary accommodations. Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders. Serve food, coffee, tea, and other beverages promptly and professionally. Monitor tables throughout the meal and anticipate guest needs before being asked. Clear and reset tables efficiently while maintaining a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Handle guest concerns with professionalism and escalate issues to management when appropriate. Recognize opportunities to personalize the experience for hotel guests, including remembering preferences whenever possible. Communicate relevant guest requests or preferences to the appropriate hotel or restaurant team member. Opening & Breakfast Setup Arrive on time and fully prepared to have the dining room guest-ready before service begins. Complete all assigned opening procedures and checklists. Ensure every table is fully set, clean, polished, and ready for guests. Prepare service stations with necessary silverware, glassware, napkins, menus, condiments, and service supplies. Brew and prepare coffee and tea service according to Doctor Sax standards. Inspect the dining room and surrounding guest-facing spaces before opening and correct anything that does not meet property standards. Dining Room Standards The Breakfast Server is expected to maintain a space that feels intentional throughout service. Continuously monitor tables, chairs, floors, windows, service stations, and other visible areas. Keep tables free of unnecessary dishes, crumbs, used glassware, and clutter. Ensure glassware, plates, and silverware are spotless and polished before reaching a guest. Reset tables completely after each guest rather than partially preparing them for the next seating. Closing & Transition Complete all assigned breakfast closing and side-work responsibilities. Clean, polish, organize, and properly store service equipment and supplies. Sweep and clean floors and service areas as assigned. Restock all necessary items for the following service. Ensure all glassware and silverware are polished and properly put away. Leave the restaurant and service stations fully reset and ready for the next part of the day. Communicate relevant guest information, maintenance concerns, inventory needs, or operational issues to the incoming team or management.

Breakfast Servers are expected to:
Be warm, confident, composed, and genuinely hospitable. Maintain a polished and professional appearance throughout the shift. Follow Doctor Sax uniform and grooming standards. Remain present and attentive in guest-facing spaces. Keep personal phones away while on the floor or actively working. Maintain professional communication with coworkers, guests, and management. Work collaboratively across departments rather than viewing responsibilities as limited to a single position. Take initiative when something needs attention rather than waiting to be asked. Treat the entire property as a shared responsibility. Maintain appropriate and reasonable break behavior without allowing personal or extended breaks to interfere with service or place additional burden on other team members. Understand that details matter and that every visible element contributes to the guest's perception of Doctor Sax.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous restaurant, hotel, café, or hospitality experience preferred. Breakfast or upscale dining experience is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to provide warm, professional service while working independently. Strong attention to detail and cleanliness. Ability to multitask and prioritize during busy service periods. Comfortable learning and using restaurant POS and hotel-related technology as required. Knowledge of basic coffee, tea, food, and beverage service preferred. Reliable transportation and consistent morning availability. Availability to work weekends and holidays as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires regular standing and walking for extended periods.
Employees must be able to:
Stand and walk for the majority of the scheduled shift. Frequently bend, reach, lift, carry, and move throughout the restaurant and hotel. Safely carry trays, plates, glassware, and service equipment. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds when necessary. Navigate stairs and indoor and outdoor service areas safely. Perform repetitive tasks associated with restaurant setup, service, cleaning, and breakdown.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE A
successful Breakfast Server does more than take orders and deliver food. Guests should feel cared for without feeling watched. Tables should be reset before anyone notices they were cleared. Coffee should be offered before a guest has to search for someone. The room should remain polished from the first seating through the final table.
