DescriptionThe Food Runner is responsible for ensuring an exceptional dining experience by delivering food quickly, accurately, and with proper presentation from the kitchen to guests, while serving as a key communication link between the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction.

Pay inMD/VA Locations:
$8.00 an hour plus tip out from the servers/bar and to go/Online orders. Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Complete assigned shift side work for opening, running, and closing side work as well as weekly/daily assignments. This also includes ensuring your expo line and to-go items are ready for service (to-go bags/cups/boxes, condiments, butter/syrup trays, and polished fork/spoons/steak knives).
- Required to wear the company-approved Busboys & Poets dress code at all times, including black jeans or slacks, slip-resistant shoes, a clean apron, no loose hair (hairnet/hat/hair tied).
- Maintain proper personal hygiene and a clean, professional appearance at all times in accordance with company grooming standards and health regulations (clean dress code, practicing regular handwashing, maintaining neat hair and grooming, short nails, and avoiding strong body odors or unsanitary conditions, in accordance with health regulations).
- Effectively communicating, customers need to line cooks and/or servers for special modifications.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, communicate, read the order from the kitchen display screen (KDS) system and accurately relay guest dietary needs and allergy restrictions to line cooks and/or servers or kitchen managers to ensure guest safety and order accuracy.
- Expedite food and insure quality and standards are met in presentation of each food item
- Carry food dishes, condiments and silverware from expo line to and from the customers (if needed pre buss any dirty dishes or empty glasses/cups)
- Assist any guest with locating items requested.
- Provide hospitable service with a smile. Excellent customer service starts with a warm and genuine approach to the tables.
- In addition to core food runner responsibilities, tribe members are expected to assist with maintaining a clean, sanitized, and safe restaurant environment.
- Clean and polish counters, shelves, walls, furniture, or equipment in the expo line.
- Refill ice water, coffee, or other beverages to the guest when needed.
- Assist with additional duties and support other departments as needed during service, including stepping in to perform FOH tasks.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must work a minimum of 3 full shifts that includes one weekend shift (Saturday/Sunday).
- Ability to read food order tickets in English.
- Previous food running experience in a full service restaurant for at least a year
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of hospitality and enjoys engaging with guests in a friendly, professional manner.
- Understanding guest dietary and allergy restrictions.
- Must be a team player and able to thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and remain organized.
- Dependable, on time attendance, and able to follow company policies, procedures, and service standards
Physical Requirements:
- Being able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks/motions.
- Spend time bending, reaching, crawling and/or twisting the body.
- Spend time lifting heavy weights up to 30 pounds.
- Spend time using your hands to handle, control, or feel objects, and tools.
- Spend time walking.
