The Cronin & 101 Club | Marshall, Michigan Meat Beer Whiskey & Hospitality The Cronin & 101 Club is looking for energetic, observant, and team-focused Server Assistants to join our opening team. At The Cronin & 101 Club, we don't use the term busser because this position is much more than clearing tables. Our Server Assistants are an essential part of the guest experience. They support our servers, run food and beverages, maintain the dining room, anticipate guest needs, and help ensure every table is ready for the next experience. You aren't just clearing the table you are helping control the pace of the entire dining room.
THE ROLE
Server Assistants work alongside Servers, Bartenders, Hosts, Food Runners, and Managers to keep service moving smoothly. You'll be expected to move with purpose and urgency while maintaining the polished, professional atmosphere of The Cronin & 101 Club.
Key responsibilities include:
Deliver piping-hot food immediately when it reaches the window. Hot food waits for no one. Assist with running beverages from the bar promptly and accurately. Clear finished plates, glassware, and unnecessary items throughout the guest's experience. Pre-bus tables continuously so guests are never surrounded by finished dishes. Maintain water levels and assist with other guest needs as directed. Communicate immediately with Servers and Managers when you notice guest needs assistance. Help maintain clean and organized dining rooms, service stations, and guest-facing areas. Properly clean and sanitize tables and seating between parties. Reset tables accurately and consistently according to Cronin & 101 Club standards. Assist Servers with maintaining their sections during high-volume periods. Communicate with the kitchen and service team to ensure food reaches guests quickly. Follow all food safety, sanitation, alcohol-handling, and company procedures. Complete assigned opening, running, and closing responsibilities.
THE 45-SECOND STANDARD
At The Cronin & 101 Club, an empty table shouldn't stay empty because the team wasn't ready. Once a party leaves and the table is available to be cleaned, our goal is to have it completely cleared, cleaned, sanitized, and reset within 45 seconds whenever operationally possible. That requires teamwork. Server Assistants are expected to recognize when a table turns and respond immediately. During busy periods, multiple team members may work together to meet the standard. Clear it. Clean it. Reset it. Ready in 45. Fast does not mean sloppy. Every reset must still meet our cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation standards.
HOT FOOD
=
RIGHT NOW
When food reaches the service window, it becomes everyone's priority. If you are available and food is ready, you run it. Our guests should experience their food the way the kitchen intended it to be served—hot, fresh, properly presented, and without unnecessary time sitting in the window.
Server Assistants must learn:
Table and seat numbers Proper food-running procedures Menu item identification Appropriate food presentation Safe plate handling Allergy and dietary communication procedures When to immediately involve a Server or Manager You may also be asked to assist with delivering beverages from the bar. Accuracy and communication are essential. Never guess where something belongs.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You may be a great Server Assistant if you naturally notice what needs to happen next. We're looking for people who: Move with urgency. You understand the difference between moving quickly and looking frantic. Pay attention. Empty glasses, finished plates, food in the window, a table that needs resetting—you see it before someone has to ask. Understand teamwork. There is no "that's not my table" mentality here. Take direction well. Restaurant service moves quickly, and communication needs to be clear and respected. Stay composed. You can work quickly while remaining professional around guests. Take pride in the details. Silverware placement, clean glassware, spotless tables, and properly prepared dining areas matter. Want to grow. This is an excellent position for someone interested in learning restaurant service and potentially developing into other Front of House roles.
EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
Previous restaurant experience is helpful but not required . We are willing to train candidates who demonstrate reliability, urgency, hospitality, and a strong work ethic.
Candidates must be able to:
Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs. Remain on their feet and moving throughout the majority of the shift. Safely carry plates, trays, glassware, and other restaurant items. Work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Communicate clearly with guests and fellow team members. Maintain reliable and punctual attendance. Maintain a clean and professional appearance. Follow food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol-service procedures applicable to the position.
MORE THAN A BUSSER
At The Cronin & 101 Club, the Server Assistant is part of the service team, not simply the cleanup team. You will interact with guests. You will run food. You will run drinks. You will support Servers. You will help turn tables. You will protect the quality of the food leaving our kitchen. And you will help create the polished, seamless experience we want every guest to remember.
