Job Description
Core Responsibilities
Guest Service:
Greet customers promptly with a friendly attitude, escort them to tables, and provide menus. Order Management:
Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS system or hand-write tickets for the kitchen. Menu Expertise:
Maintain a thorough knowledge of the menu, including daily specials, ingredients, and potential allergens. Food & Beverage Delivery:
Deliver orders from the kitchen to the correct tables while ensuring proper presentation and temperature. Table Maintenance:
Perform "silent service" by refilling drinks, clearing empty plates (pre-bussing), and ensuring guests have everything they need throughout their meal. Payment Processing:
Prepare final checks, process cash or credit card payments, and provide accurate change. Diner-Specific Duties Side Work:
Perform "roll-ups" (wrapping silverware), refilling condiment bottles (ketchup, mustard, salt/pepper), and restocking creamer and sugar stations. Station Cleaning:
Wipe down tables, booths, and counters between guests; sweep immediate areas as needed. Coffee Service:
Proactively offer coffee refills—a hallmark of the diner experience. Team Support:
In a small diner, servers may occasionally assist with basic food prep (like plating desserts) or helping the dishwasher during a rush. Requirements & Skills Multitasking:
Ability to manage multiple tables and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Communication:
Clear and professional verbal communication with both guests and kitchen staff (the "Back of House"). Physical Stamina:
Capability to stand and walk for extended periods and carry heavy trays or bus tubs. Basic Math:
Proficiency in handling money and calculating tips or split checks. Reliability:
Punctuality is critical in small teams where every person's presence is vital to the shift's success. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in food service or customer-facing roles. Knowledge of local health and safety food handling regulations. A positive, community-oriented mindset suited for a local "neighborhood" atmosphere.Job Type:
