Job Description
Server Job Responsibilities Warmly greet guests and seat them comfortably when needed. Provide friendly, attentive, and professional service throughout each guest's dining experience. Accurately take food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS system. Communicate clearly with kitchen, bar, host, and management staff to ensure orders are prepared and delivered correctly and promptly. Learn and maintain a strong knowledge of the menu, daily specials, ingredients, wine, beer, and other beverages. Make recommendations and suggest appetizers, entrées, desserts, and beverages based on guests' preferences. Ask about food allergies or dietary restrictions and communicate them properly to the kitchen. Check on guests regularly, refill drinks, and respond quickly to requests or concerns. Resolve minor guest issues professionally and notify management when additional assistance is needed. Process cash and credit card payments accurately and return correct change. Maintain clean and organized tables, server stations, and dining areas. Clear and reset tables quickly while keeping the dining room neat and welcoming. Complete assigned opening, closing, and side-work duties. Assist with setting up and rearranging tables for large parties, reservations, and special events. Follow all food safety, sanitation, alcohol-service, and restaurant policies. Work as part of a team and assist coworkers during busy periods. Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while on duty. Qualifications Previous restaurant or customer service experience is preferred. Serving and food-handling experience is a plus. Familiarity with POS systems, especially Clover, is preferred. Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills. Ability to recommend menu items and upsell food and beverages without pressuring guests. Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and allergy procedures. Basic math skills and the ability to handle cash and credit card transactions accurately. Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional in a fast-paced environment. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to safely carry trays, plates, and beverage orders and lift approximately 25-30 pounds. Must meet all legal requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
