Overview Extreme Ice Center is a two-sheet ice rink located southeast of Charlotte, N.C. that provides year-round programs, leagues, classes and events for hockey, figure skating and recreational skating. Our in-house bar and restaurant, Center Ice Tavern, is seeking food runners and dish washers for immediate hire. This is a combined position where successful candidates will be cross-trained to be able to complete all tasks as assigned during a scheduled shift. Hourly pay rates begin at $12/hour, and adjust based on experience, availability and performance.

Duties As a food runner:

Deliver Meals:

Bring hot food hot and cold food cold from the kitchen line to guests.

Verify Orders:

Check plates against order slips to ensure accuracy and proper presentation before leaving the kitchen.

Memorize Table Layouts:

Know the table numbers and seat positions so each dish goes directly to the right guest.

Support:

Assist bartenders by bussing and cleaning tables for turnover.

Communicate:

Act as a bridge between the kitchen staff and bartenders regarding timing or special requests.

As a dish washer:

Washing and Sanitizing:

Operate commercial dishwashers and hand-wash delicate or oversized cookware.

Organizing and Storing:

Sort, stack, and properly store clean dishes, glasses, and utensils in designated areas.

Kitchen Maintenance:

Sweep, mop floors, clean dish stations, and empty trash bins regularly.

Support Tasks:

Assist with basic food prep, restock supplies, and help close the kitchen.

Skills As a food runner:

Physical Stamina:

Ability to stand and walk quickly for long shifts while carrying heavy trays.

Strong Memory:

Remembering table numbers, seat positions, and specific orders.

Speed and Agility:

Moving fast through a busy dining room without spilling or dropping items.

As a dish washer:

Physical Stamina:

Ability to stand for long shifts (8-10 hours) and lift up to 50 pounds.

Fast-Paced Adaptability:

Work efficiently under pressure during busy rushes.

Safety Knowledge:

Follow health, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines.

Teamwork:

Communicate well with cooks, servers, and kitchen manager.
