Restaurant Server Blue Jay Bistro Reports to: Blue Jay Bistro Service Manager and Beverage Manager Blue Jay Bistro, located on Main Street in downtown Littleton, North Carolina, is an escape from the ordinary. The Servers are responsible for providing exceptional knowledge of food & beverage menu items as well as information regarding preparation methods.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Once guests are seated, the Server is responsible for ensuring they have an exceptional dining experience. Before and during service, is responsible for readying sections for service including but not limited to, ensuring mise-en-place for guests and server stations, polishing glassware and silverware. The Server is also responsible for opening side work before the pre-shift meeting. Interacts with the guests on an engaging and personal level while being attentive to their needs and ongoing experience. Upon taking guests' order is responsible for accurately entering the order details using our POS (point of Sale) to the kitchen. The Server is expected to assist staff with the resetting process when necessary. At the conclusion of service, the server is responsible for closing side work, cleaning duties, as well as for accurate and timely completion of closing paperwork. The Ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in restaurant service. Wine knowledge is a plus. Has open availability through the weekend. Enjoys supporting the Blue Jay Bistro team in ensuring the quality of food, has a passion for food exploration and has a genuine desire to impress their guest.
Minimum Qualifications:
Positive professional demeanor, commitment, and willingness to serve. Ability to work in a high pace / physically demanding environment, able to multitask and perform under pressure. Ability to responsibly and accurately process cash, credit card transactions, and manage computer POS systems. Requires reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language. Effective communication and active listening skills for conversing with guests. Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and responsiveness. Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time, and able to bend, stretch, and carry items that may weigh over 20 pounds. Strong time management and organizational skills. Capable of following all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.
