We are hiring dependable, energetic, and team-oriented Server Assistants to join our opening team. This is a multi-role position. Server Assistants will be trained and scheduled to perform all three service-support functions: Expo Food Runner Busser Applicants must be willing and able to rotate between all three roles based on the needs of each shift. This is not a position limited to only food running or bussing. Paid pre-opening training will be provided. Applicants must be available to attend training before the restaurant opens. Expo Responsibilities Organize completed food orders from the kitchen and sushi bar. Check table numbers, menu items, quantities, presentation, sauces, garnishes, and special instructions before food leaves the pickup area. Arrange food on trays in the correct order for efficient delivery. Maintain accurate order flow during high-volume service. Keep allergy-related orders clearly identified and separated according to Sakana procedures. Communicate missing items, incorrect items, delays, refires, and incomplete orders immediately. Coordinate with sushi chefs, kitchen staff, food runners, servers, and managers. Keep the expo and food-pickup areas clean, stocked, and organized. Food Runner Responsibilities Deliver sushi, hot food, appetizers, sauces, and other items to the correct tables promptly and accurately. Confirm the table number and identify dishes before presenting them to guests. Handle allergy orders carefully and never guess about an item or ingredient. Inform the expo, server, or manager immediately about missing food, incorrect orders, guest requests, or service problems. Carry trays safely while maintaining food quality and presentation. Assist guests politely with basic requests and direct menu or policy questions to their server. Return trays, dishes, and service items to the appropriate areas. Busser Responsibilities Pre-bus tables throughout the meal and remove used dishes promptly. Clear, clean, sanitize, and completely reset tables according to Sakana standards. Refill water and replace utensils, napkins, sauces, and other table supplies as assigned. Keep dining-room floors, aisles, service stations, and waiting areas clean and safe. Restock plates, trays, utensils, cups, napkins, sauces, and other service supplies. Respond quickly to spills, broken glass, and cleaning needs. Support servers in keeping tables clean and guests comfortable. Complete assigned opening, closing, side-work, and cleaning duties. Qualifications Previous expo, food-runner, busser, server-assistant, or restaurant experience is preferred but not required. Must be willing to learn and rotate between Expo, Food Runner, and Busser duties. Able to work quickly while maintaining accuracy, cleanliness, and food presentation. Able to learn table numbers and identify menu items. Dependable, punctual, organized, and team-oriented. Friendly and professional when interacting with guests. Comfortable working in a busy, high-volume restaurant. Evening, weekend, holiday, and closing availability is strongly preferred. Must be available for paid pre-opening training. Able to stand and walk for extended periods and safely carry trays, bus tubs, and restaurant supplies, with or without reasonable accommodation. Functional English is required for accurate and safe workplace communication. Spanish or Chinese language skills are a plus.
