Captain, Catering Server Benefits & Compensation Competitive hourly rate ( $20.52-$24.49 per hour ) plus expected overtime Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan and paid time off Wellbeing and recognition programs Engaging workplace with opportunities for professional growth Captain, Catering Server Requirements & Qualifications High school diploma required Minimum 5 years' experience in a culinary services establishment Strong supervisory abilities and knowledge of serving procedures Understanding of proper sanitation protocols (Nassau County sanitation certificate preferred) NYS alcoholic beverage service training (TIPS) preferred Strong organizational skills, diplomacy, and hospitality etiquette Ability to work as part of a team and engage with a diverse community Must be available for evening, weekend, and some holiday shifts Captain, Catering Server Preferred Background & Skills Familiarity with campus or research institution facilities is a plus Captain, Catering Server Day-to-Day Responsibilities Oversee on- and off-campus event setup, service, and breakdown for meetings, courses, and VIP occasions Provide catering services at residences for senior leaders and visiting dignitaries Procure, organize, and manage event supplies and equipment Assign duties and supervise a team of 20-30 seasonal event staff Lead and assist in training staff to deliver top-tier hospitality Act as liaison with event organizers and support issue resolution as needed Serve as barista at designated café locations on occasion Utilize point-of-sale (POS) systems for various service needs Support performance feedback and contribute to event service analysis Step into a leadership role where your attention to detail, hospitality skills, and team spirit will help create exceptional experiences for a world-class scientific community.
