About Deer Mountain Inn Deer Mountain Inn is a hospitality-focused, upscale casual destination hotel and restaurant in the Catskills. Our food program-led by Corwin Kave, James Beard Nominated Best Chef in NY- features locally grown and foraged ingredients executed with precision and passion. Our seasonal cocktail program and wine list, which boasts nearly 700 fantastic selections from well-respected and up-and-coming producers and regions, add incredible value to the dining experience at DMI. The Role We are looking for knowledgeable, hospitality-driven servers to join our service team. Deer Mountain Inn Servers play an integral role in ensuring all our guests have an outstanding dining experience in a warm and comfortable environment. Our servers are trained to demonstrate expertise in our food and beverage programming to help actively guide our guests through their dining experience. In addition to dinner service, servers also are expected to work weddings and other special events. Key Responsibilities Maintain a high level of hospitality and professionalism with all guests and team members Develop a comprehensive knowledge of all food, beverage, and dietary restrictions to answer guest questions and guide their culinary experience Maintain familiarity of important wine regions and classic wine pairings from our by-the-glass program Offer recommendations, take orders, and develop relationships with guests to deliver personal and notable experiences Ensure all orders in and out of the kitchen are accurate, on time, and meet guests' expectations Execute opening and closing procedures and side work Requirements Positive attitude, a sense of responsibility and ownership of the position Passion for creating memorable moments of hospitality for our guests Desire to learn and grow within the position and restaurant 2+ years of server experience Willingness to learn and have a passion for food, wine, beer, coffee, and craft cocktails Detail-oriented with strong communication skills Team-oriented with the ability to navigate a fast-paced environment Present oneself groomed, with good hygiene, an upright posture, and the required uniform and tools Fluent in both written and spoken English Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver plates, cases of water, chairs, linen, and dining room tables. (Up to 50 pounds) Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) Must be comfortable with repetitive motions (such as walking, bending & standing) Deer Mountain Inn enforces a zero-tolerance policy with regards to discrimination and/or harassment in any form Compensation Server base pay starts at $10.80 per hour. Tip payouts vary based on the season, day of the week, and event programming. Servers can expect to make an average of $250 in tips per shift. Annual compensation for successful full-time servers with 5 shifts per week is roughly 90k per year. Benefits (ARMHR 2026 Update)
