Job Description
St Josef's Vineyards and Winery is one of the original Oregon wine pioneers in operation for over 40 years. We are proud to be family owned and operated and have a reputation for a casual European style hospitality and premium, handcrafted wines. Our philosophy is simple - that we grow & make outstanding, food-friendly Oregon wine, with salmon safe and LIVE certified sustainability practices - and have a good time doing it! St Josef's Winery in Canby OR is looking to grow our team of tasting room hosts. This part-time "winetender" position is responsible for welcoming guests and pouring wines for tasting as well as promoting bottle purchases and club membership. As an ambassador for St Josef's Winery, the tasting room hosts also encourage customer engagement and sales by articulately describing our wines, winemaking and winery history.
Qualifications:
- Experience in food/beverage hospitality industry or similar customer service/sales-oriented position.
- Possess fundamental wine knowledge and willingness to learn more.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- POS experience, preferably Square
- A valid/current OLCC Server's Permit & Food Handler's Card or willingness to obtain them by start date.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and traverse stairs and hilly terrain with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willingness and flexibility to perform different tasks or roles as needed.
- Weekend availability and willingness to assist with special events.
Key Duties Responsibilities :
- Perform friendly, fine wine hospitality, service, and sales to our guests. Including service at the bar as well delivering wine or food to tables.
- Actively engage with customers and demonstrate knowledge of our wines and their characteristics as well as our winery history and story.
- Handle sales transactions that involve operating a POS system and processing card and cash payments.
- Proactively introduce customers to the benefits of our wine club membership, including exclusive discounts and events.
- General kitchen and housekeeping responsibilities which include cleaning work areas, busing tables, maintaining supply of clean glasses, preparing charcuterie, restocking wines etc.
