Full-time Position Summary:
The Front Waiter plays a key role in delivering refined, attentive service to guests in a fine dining setting. Working under the supervision of the Restaurant Captain, the Front Waiter is responsible for presenting dishes, guiding the guest through the dining experience, and maintaining the highest standards of elegance and professionalism throughout service.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Interaction:
Welcome guests with warmth and professionalism. Ensure a smooth and gracious dining experience by anticipating needs and responding promptly to requests.
Service Excellence:
Present menus, explain daily specials, and take food and beverage orders with accuracy and finesse. Ensure proper service sequence and etiquette is followed at all times.
Table Maintenance:
Oversee table setup and resetting between courses, maintain cleanliness, and ensure each setting meets fine dining standards, including proper glassware, silverware, and napkin placement.
Food Presentation:
Deliver dishes from the kitchen with precision, describing ingredients and preparation techniques clearly and confidently. Coordinate timing with the back waiter to ensure a seamless flow.
Beverage Service:
Assist in wine and beverage service when required, working closely with the Sommelier or Captain to support pairings and proper pouring standards.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with Captains, Back Waiters, Runners, and Kitchen staff to ensure synchronized service and optimal guest satisfaction. Attention to
Detail:
Monitor guest cues and preferences to personalize service. Handle any concerns discreetly and inform the Captain or management if needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in upscale or fine dining restaurants. Excellent knowledge of fine dining service standards, including multi-course service and formal table settings. Strong communication and guest engagement skills. Well-groomed appearance and professional demeanor. Familiarity with basic wine and food terminology. Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment. Hospitality certification or formal training is a plus.
Work Environment:
Standing and walking for extended periods. Carrying trays and lifting light to moderate weight. Shifts include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
