As a captain, you will play a pivotal role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests, ensuring their satisfaction from the moment they walk through our doors. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of wine and spirits, a genuine enthusiasm for beverage and service, the ability to create thoughtful tailored guest dining experience.
Extensive knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, and other beverage offeringsBartending experience a plus 5+ years working in fine dining restaurantsStrong understanding of wine regions, varietals, production methods, and stylesKnowledge of classic and contemporary spirits, cocktails, and proper beverage serviceAbility to confidently recommend and provide wine and beverage pairings with foodAbility to guide guests based on their preferences, menu selections, and budgetExcellent communication and guest-service skillsProfessional appearance, attitude, and demeanorA strong understanding of professional hospitality cultureStrive for continuous improvement Ability to take coaching and suggestions from managementAbility to work effectively as part of a team in fine dining environmentA willingness to continuously expand beverage knowledge and stay current with industry trendsOpen availability for scheduling, including evenings and weekendsMust be available and willing to work holidays, including major holiday periodsDependable, punctual, and committed to providing consistently excellent serviceHourly wage plus commission on sales If you are someone who enjoys educating guests without being pretentious, understands that hospitality comes first, and takes pride in creating memorable dining experiences then John Howie Steak & Whiskey by JH want you to be part of the team!
