Job Description

Contract Process Server (1099 Independent Contractor) We are seeking a dependable, professional Contract Process Server to deliver legal documents accurately, promptly, and in compliance with applicable laws and procedures. This is a flexible, part-time 1099 independent contractor opportunity. The number of assignments and hours will vary from week to week, with no guaranteed minimum. Responsibilities Serve legal documents at residences, businesses, and other approved locations Make timely, diligent attempts according to assignment instructions and legal requirements Accurately document each attempt, including dates, times, locations, and relevant observations Complete affidavits, proofs of service, and status reports by required deadlines Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally Communicate promptly regarding completed, unsuccessful, or challenging assignments Exercise sound judgment and remain calm and respectful during interactions Plan routes and manage assignments independently Qualifications At least 18 years old Reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance Reliable smartphone with GPS, camera, email, and internet access Strong attention to detail, time management, and written communication skills Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines Professional demeanor and willingness to work in varied locations and conditions Ability to pass a background check, if required Process-serving experience is preferred but not required Must obtain and maintain any registration, license, bond, or certification required by applicable state or local law Schedule and Compensation Flexible schedule based on assignment availability and service deadlines Hours and workload will vary from week to week Some evening, weekend, or early-morning attempts may be necessary Compensation is paid per assignment or completed service at agreed-upon rates No minimum number of hours or assignments is guaranteed Contractors are responsible for their own transportation, fuel, equipment, insurance, licenses, and taxes Independent Contractor Status This is a 1099 independent contractor position, not an employee role. The contractor generally controls how and when assignments are completed, subject to legal requirements, client instructions, and applicable deadlines. This position does not include employee benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, unemployment benefits, or retirement benefits.
Pay:
$20.00 - $50.00 per hour
