Job Description
Nomada Bakery is hiring part-time and full-time counter servers to join our front-of-house team. Nomada is an independently owned bakery and café located at Heritage Station in Huntington. We serve baked goods, empanadas, sandwiches, coffee drinks, and other foods made by our bakery and kitchen teams. This is a fast-paced, customer-facing position. Counter servers welcome customers, explain our products, take and prepare orders, operate the register, serve food and drinks, package bakery items, and help keep the café clean and organized. Responsibilities Greet customers promptly and provide friendly, attentive service Explain menu items, ingredients, and bakery products Take orders accurately using the point-of-sale system Handle cash, credit-card, online, and pickup orders Prepare coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages Package cakes, pastries, empanadas, and other bakery products carefully Assemble and serve customer orders accurately Restock the counter, beverage station, packaging, and retail areas Monitor online and advance orders and communicate with the kitchen and bakery teams Maintain clean tables, counters, display areas, equipment, and customer spaces Wash dishes and complete opening, closing, and routine cleaning tasks Respond professionally to customer questions, concerns, and special requests Assist with other front-of-house and bakery tasks as needed What we are looking for Friendly and professional communication Dependability and punctuality Strong attention to detail and order accuracy Ability to remain calm and organized during busy periods Willingness to learn Nomada's products, ingredients, and service standards Ability to work independently while communicating with the rest of the team Comfort handling money and using a point-of-sale system Availability for some weekends and holidays Previous restaurant, café, retail, barista, or customer-service experience is preferred, but we will consider applicants who demonstrate reliability, good judgment, and the ability to learn quickly. Nomada is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Counter employees may begin before opening and may remain after closing to complete setup, cleaning, restocking, and closing responsibilities. Exact shifts depend on business and staffing needs. We can consider applicants seeking approximately 20 hours per week as well as applicants seeking up to 40 hours per week. As a small business, we try to be flexible when arranging schedules while ensuring that customer-service and staffing needs are covered.
