6/1/2026 A client in East Hampton, NY is seeking a housekeeper for the summer season who will help to maintain and care for a private residence that is occupied primarily during the summer months and largely unoccupied during the fall and spring seasons. This role requires a highly dependable, detail-oriented individual who is comfortable working independently.
Main Work Duties:
Perform thorough housekeeping services to keep the home clean, orderly, and move-in-ready at all times. Dust and care for furniture, decorative items, shelving, and interior surfaces throughout the residence. Clean and maintain all flooring, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and floor-specific care as needed. Clean ceiling fans, light fixtures, air vents, baseboards, and other detail areas on a regular schedule. Maintain kitchens and bathrooms, ensuring all fixtures, surfaces, and appliances are properly cleaned and cared for. Conduct routine visual inspections of the interior of the home to identify leaks, maintenance needs, or irregularities and report concerns promptly. Perform light exterior walk-throughs of the property, checking doors, windows, and outdoor areas to ensure everything is secure and in proper condition. Secure the home after each visit, following established protocols and leaving the property in proper condition.
The Perfect Candidate:
Proven experience working independently in private homes Someone who has worked without daily supervision and can demonstrate they're comfortable being the sole person responsible for a residence. Strong attention to detail beyond basic cleaning The right candidate notices things others miss—dust on vents, changes in humidity, subtle maintenance issues, or anything that feels "off" in an unoccupied home. Trustworthiness with excellent long-term references Requires someone trusted with access to an empty home; consistent, verifiable private-home references are critical. Someone who thinks in terms of preserving and protecting the home—checking doors, windows, appliances, and overall condition—not just completing a task list. Reliability and consistency over peak summer months Summer is the most active and visible season; the ideal person shows up on time, follows routines, and keeps standards steady even when workload increases. Clear communication and reporting habits The best candidates naturally communicate updates—flagging small concerns early, confirming visits, and keeping the principals informed without being prompted.
Requirements:
At least 3 years of housekeeping experience in a private home. Excellent references from both current and previous employers. Ability to work independently. Must speak and be able to communicate well in English. Authorized to work in the United States for any employer. Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
Pay:
$35.00
