Reports To:
Deputy Executive Director and Section 8 Manager Position Summary The Housing Authority is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Housing Choice Voucher Inspector to perform inspections of rental properties participating in the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program. This position involves both fieldwork and administrative office responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be tech savvy, organized, and knowledgeable in residential building systems and construction practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections for rental units participating in the Housing Choice Voucher Program Perform initial, annual, special, and re-inspections as required Identify deficiencies related to building construction, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and general property conditions Document inspection findings accurately using computer software and mobile technology Communicate inspection results and required repairs to landlords, tenants, and management staff Maintain inspection records and prepare reports in a timely manner Assist with enforcement of HUD regulations and Housing Authority policies Coordinate scheduling and follow-up inspections Perform administrative office duties related to inspections and program compliance Attend meetings and training sessions as required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Experience in property inspections, construction, maintenance, housing, or a related field preferred Basic understanding of: Residential building construction HVAC systems Electrical systems Plumbing systems Strong computer and technology skills, including the ability to use inspection software, tablets, email, and Microsoft Office applications Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to interact professionally with tenants, landlords, contractors, and staff Requirements Valid driver's license and reliable private vehicle required Must be willing to travel throughout the service area for inspections Mileage reimbursement provided for use of private vehicle Ability to perform field inspections, including walking, climbing stairs, and working in varying weather conditions Benefits Competitive hourly wage Full-time employment opportunity Mileage reimbursement Opportunity to serve the community through affordable housing programs The Housing Authority is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
