Job Description

At the Menard County Housing Authority, our mission is to promote and provide quality housing while encouraging upward mobility and a better quality of life. We are searching for an inspector to take responsibility for conducting inspections of rental units participating in the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program to ensure compliance with HUD Housing Quality Standards. This role helps ensure safe, sanitary, and decent housing for program participants. This position will require heavy amounts of traveling during the work day. Key Responsibilities Conduct initial, annual, special, and re-inspections of housing units in accordance with
HUD HQS/NSPIRE
guidelines Identify deficiencies and document violations with detailed reports and photographs Communicate inspection results clearly to landlords, tenants, and housing staff Assist to verify that repairs are completed within required timeframes Maintain accurate records in inspection software and databases Interpret and apply federal, state, and local housing regulations Provide excellent customer service while maintaining compliance standards Participate in training and stay updated on HUD regulations and inspection protocols Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience Associate degree with two (2) year experience in residential and multi-family building maintenance and inspections or an equivalent combination of experience and education. The following Certifications must be obtained within six months of employment or other allowable period of hire as authorized by the Executive Director or his/her designee: Fair Housing Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and/or National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) Special Requirements Possession of a valid driver's license Ability to be covered under the Authority's vehicle insurance policy Familiarity with building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural components) Must be willing and able to work after hours or flexible schedule when necessary We offer a generous time off package, health/dental/vision benefits, employer paid retirement savings program, flexible work environment and team atmosphere. $38,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
