Job DescriptionJob Description Position Summary Valhalla Industries is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented HR & Payroll Manager to oversee the full employee lifecycle while ensuring accurate and compliant payroll operations. This role integrates human resources administration with end-to-end payroll management to support a seamless employee experience from onboarding through employment and beyond. The HR & Payroll Manager will serve as a key operational leader responsible for employee onboarding, payroll processing, benefits coordination, compliance oversight, and HR system administration. The ideal candidate is both people-focused and process-driven, capable of managing sensitive HR matters while maintaining precise payroll accuracy and regulatory compliance across a multi-state workforce. Key Responsibilities Employee Lifecycle Management Manage the full onboarding process including offer letters, employment documentation, I-9 verification, and new hire orientation. Ensure accurate entry of employee information into HRIS and payroll systems. Oversee offboarding procedures including final pay calculations, documentation, and system updates. Maintain accurate employee records in compliance with federal and state regulations. Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions related to HR, payroll, and benefits. Payroll Administration & Timekeeping Manage full-cycle payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees on weekly and bi-weekly schedules. Ensure timekeeping records are reviewed and approved prior to payroll processing. Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule while maintaining strict compliance with wage and hour laws. Benefits & Compensation Administration Coordinate employee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations. Reconcile benefit deductions with payroll. Serve as liaison with benefit providers, brokers, and third-party administrators. Support compensation administration and payroll-related adjustments. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws including FLSA and multi-state payroll requirements. Manage payroll tax administration including federal, state, and local filings. Ensure accurate withholding and remittance of payroll taxes. Prepare and distribute year-end tax forms such as W-2s and 1099s. Support internal audits and regulatory reporting requirements. Systems & Process Management Serve as system administrator for HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping platforms. Monitor system accuracy and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and data integrity. Generate payroll and workforce reporting for leadership. Identify opportunities to streamline HR and payroll processes across the organization. Qualifications Required 5+ years of combined HR and payroll experience. Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle payroll including tax administration. Strong understanding of wage and hour laws (FLSA), payroll compliance, and employment regulations. Experience with HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. High level of discretion and confidentiality. Preferred Experience in construction, telecommunications, or multi-state operations. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or SHRM certification. Experience working with or transitioning away from a PEO. Multi-state payroll tax experience.
